Fortress Building Products Expands Leadership Team to Drive Next Phase of Growth

Company Strengthens Leadership Bench with Addition of Toby Bostwick, Vice President, Product & Brand, and Dave Smithey, Vice President, Operations

To drive its next phase of growth, Fortress Building Products announces an expansion to its senior leadership team, appointing Toby Bostwick, vice president, product & brand, and Dave Smithey, vice president, operations. The strategic hires come at a crucial time for the residential, multi-family and commercial building products company, as it prepares to expand at the product, brand and operational levels.

Drawing from Fortress Building Products' new, aggressive growth initiative, "Fortress 2020 Vision," the seasoned leaders will help bring about an organizational transformation by engineering a structure that can better serve customers. They will also support the expansion of multiple brands and product categories in strategic channels of trade, further driving the business forward.

In his newly created role as vice president, product & brand, Bostwick will provide brand and commercialization leadership for Fortress Building Products. He will lead overall category plans for the Fortress portfolio of products, overseeing full life-cycle branding, launch and marketing initiatives.

His extensive experience in product development and management, coupled with his passion for delivering effective commercialization solutions to building materials partners, will be an invaluable resource to Fortress during this time of aggressive growth for the company," said Mike Walsh, chief operating officer at Fortress Building Products. 

As vice president, operations, Smithey will drive continuous improvement in operational performance. He will oversee the warehousing and inventory management, global logistics and order management, as well as global sourcing and manufacturing teams.

“We are at an important inflection point in the growth of the company,” continued Walsh. “Dave’s skills and experience will enhance our team’s capabilities as we expand our manufacturing and supply chain footprint, increase our product offerings and seek continuous improvement in serving our customers.”

Prior to joining Fortress Building Products, Bostwick served as the senior vice president of business development at Derby Building Products. He spent time in the multi-family space with the Connor Group and held several progressive product management and new business roles at TimberTech/AZEK.  Smithey brings extensive operational experience to Fortress from his previous position at GKN Aerospace, where he held the position of vice president, supply chain transformation. Prior to that, he spent 19 years in the domestic refrigeration and HVAC industries with Johnson Controls and Lennox International.
